Personal Update

Hi Everyone!

The mountain areas of Xochitepec.

We are grateful to be back in the swing of things again here in Mexico! You’ll note from our previous post we were away in Kansas for a month from April 21 – May 22. It was a rushed trip to help Phil’s brother who was in the ICU. You can read about it here. We did attend a security training near Kansas City while we were there. With that training and helping Phil’s brother transition from the hospital to home, it was a very exhausting trip. We are pleased to report that Stephen is making good progress at home while continuing out-patient physiotherapy and dialysis. It will be a matter of time to see significant progress but he hopes to be back at work for when the school semester begins in August.

The past couple of weeks have been busy to say the least trying to get caught up on everything after leaving on such short notice. Phil has made a few ministry trips which have been very successful. The Mexican Leadership Development Team is excited to have added another member to their team and they are looking forward to 3 new Seminary groups to begin soon. Carolyn has been baking for neighbours and some items for Phil to take and share on his trips. She has another Birthday cake request for this weekend and her cookies are as always, a huge hit! There’s been lots of administrative work to attend to after being away as well as working ahead in preparation for July.

Next month is totally filled with travel and training. As we are now part of Avant Ministries, we were invited to join a team of missionaries. These teams are for support, fellowship and staying connected with other Avant missionaries and ministries in Mexico. We accepted the invitation to join the team called “Serving His Majesty” and we look forward to our team retreat at the beginning of July. It will be so good to get to know these folks. Then, a Mexican wedding we have been invited to be a part of way up in the mountains. Following that, we head back to Kansas to finish up more training required by our new mission agency (Avant Ministries), and spend a couple days checking in on Phil’s brother. We hope to make it back to Canada this year yet if travel isn’t too complicated. It also looks like our Home Ministry Assignment will have to wait until 2022 and hope that we’ll be able to visit churches and individuals then. We’ll keep you updated on how that all works out.
